Fifteen-year old Abe spends his life immersed in the worlds of video-games and comic books, wishing for adventure. But when fantasy becomes reality and his neighbour, transformed into an unrecognisable monster, attacks him, he realises that not all adventures are what they are cracked up to be.

In the real world you can’t hit pause or revive your friends, and you can’t go back to your normal life when things get tough. The world is changing, and Abe will need to change with it if he wants to survive.

With terrifying monsters roaming the streets and their family separated, Abe sets off with his grandpa and faithful dog Bud to find a safe-zone, meeting other survivors along the way. What Abe doesn’t realise is that sometimes people are worse than monsters, and it’s not always easy to tell friends from enemies.
